Veblen Study Cabin

Filed under: Veblen Cabin — admin @ 10:01 am

In June of 2009 the Study Cabin used by one of the most important fathers of Economics in the world was move from its original site on Little Lake (on Washington Island, Wisconsin) to the Little Lake Park, owned by the Town of Washington Island.  See the Jacobson Museum and Jacobson Cabin web pages on this site. The restoration project was done, but progress was delayed while the IRS tax deduction status was negotiated.  Preliminary work on the two sides of the cabin revealed extensive modifications subsequent to the period of about 10 years, 1916 to 1926 when Thorstein Veblen built and worked in the structure.  See the web page for the story of the rescue of the cabin.

Welcome to the Washington Island Heritage Conservancy Blog.   We used the website to start our organization and go through an initial fund raising effort to move the Thorstein Veblen Cabin.   Our initial blog categories deal with the Organization and with the Veblen Cabin.  We will develop further categories as required.
